Not Dead!!!!

I'm alive y'all. I've been crazy busy though. One of the side effects of living the mantra "Can't Stop Rockin'" is that your blog may suffer. Seriously, I feel glittery right now and plan to blog all about it after a I grab something to nosh on. In the mean time .......

Just Amazing!

Ok, I'm going to post knitting pictures later tonight. (You know, as soon as the Red Wings finish kicking the Ducks butts.) (hehehe. duck butts.)

But! I had to post this. Just amazing. At first I thought, cool, then the end was just touching. And, yes, my maiden name is Schmidt, but I don't think I'm related to this guy.

Loving The Girl Power

So last Sunday, on Exposed, I reported on Lita Ford putting out (hehe.) her first album in 14 years. I'm really am excited. I've always admired women who recognized and and owned their power. And, admittedly, she's been living in the Caribbean. It would take a whole lot of motivation to get me out of the Caribbean and on to a grueling tour. So kudos to her and best of luck with the new album.

It also caught my eye today that Pat Benetar, Blondie and The Donnas are hitting the road .... together! How kick ass is that? Sadly, they won't be near me. But go see them if you can!

And that's a nice segue into my summer plans. Right now, I'm getting ready to move in with my grandma for a couple months. He husband passed away in February. She needs the company and I'm free for most of the summer.

I'm also driving out to see Kay and Packy at the end of June. Ok, so despite my love of classic rock, until recently, my opinions were Styx were all based around "Mr. Roboto". I was in high school robotics. So that was the only Styx song that I knew (I thought). Well Kay is a huge Styx fan. So she talked me into going to a concert last January with her in Kalamazoo. She drove out from New Jersey and spent the weekend with me. So we went to the show and oh. my. god. It rocked!

Kay & I in K-Zoo! For Styx!

Ok, quick detour. I like KISS. I like KISS as an act. The music is good to party to and the pyro and spectacle of the show is fun. But I LOVE musicians who can really pull off a concert. I love music and I go to concerts to hear the musicians' take on the recorded material. (Don't get me started on "artists" who can only pull it off in the studio.) Anyone can blow up a ton of explosives and slap on face paint (hello? KISS 2.0?). But it takes real talent and musicianship to pull off a rock concert.

Back to Styx, they are a group of amazing musicians. And they pulled it off and more. I've never been to a concert before that felt more like a party than me sitting there watching a show. So, yeah, they won me over. And it turns out that I knew (and loved) much more of their catalog than I was a aware of. So Kay and I have tickets to Styx/REO Speedwagon shows in upstate New York in early July.

What is this about again? Oh yeah! Summer plans. After visiting Kay, I'm planning to go down to North Carolina to visit my dad and stepmom. I hope to also make an excursion down to Myrtle Beach to visit the KISS Coffeehouse. (See? I'm not a total hater.) Then, in mid August, I'm moving out to Tacoma, Washington. Finally! After 2 years a part, Patrick and I wll finally get to live together.

So, whew! I'll be busy, but I look forward to documenting it all here.

Juno Regina

This is what I'm currently working on.

Juno Regina from Knitty. Yarn is Araucanía Lonco Multy from Uptown Fibers in Sylvania, OH in Color # 4007.

I took it to Mother's Day lunch with me yesterday and it was left in my aunt's truck as I ran into the house to do Exposed. I need to go rescue it today. So far a fun knit. The yarn called to me on a recent trip to Uptown Fibers. I wanted a fun, funky scarf for summer that I could include in my fall wardrobe. The color if perfect for it. Then, I remembered Juno Regina. I think I'm going to have to go back for more to finish it.

I'm also working on baby stuff for Rachel. She's expecting her first baby this winter. I already did a double knit burp clothe and am putting the finishing touches on a bib. I will post pics as soon as I track down a cam.

Other than that, just popped some jar cakes out of the oven for Patrick. I love that my husband is secure enough to admit that funfetti rocks his socks. It's like guys who will wear pink.

(Pic later since Blogger is sucking.)

Ok, I need to get out of here. Grocery store, post office, knitting .... here I come.

Put Your Hands Together.....

Alrighty friends, let's try this again. I maintained this blog a million years ago, but didn't have the time to keep it up. I've decided to give it another go. What is this blog about? Well, it's a knitting blog with edge. I know, that sounds a bit pretentious, but that's what it is.
I will focus a bit on my current knitting projects. Because, well, I like knitting and it's a big chunk of my life. The rest of the blog will focus on whatever I see and feel like talking about. Simple, right? I have a lot of awesome friends and I will post occasionally about them. Third (have I been numbering these?), I'll probably talk a lot about music and rock.
So who am I? I'm Abi I'm a recent college grad, Army wife, and a classic rock talk show host. I love life. I don't tolerate anyone raining on my parade. I'm very much a people person if you're a cool person.
For simplicity of reading this blog,
Patrick = my husband
Amy = our mini long-haired dachshund puppy
Kay = my co-host and best buddy
Packy = her man
Lido = my little brother
Rachel = my little sister
Exposed = the humble little classic rock talk show hosted by Kay and I. What can I say? We rock.

Enjoy!
